About the Factory

South Korean based SeAH chose to base their first UK facility at Teesworks, on the Teesside Freeport, the UK’s first operational freeport in north east England.

K2 are leading the team as project manager, construction manager and cost consultant on a new £450m offshore wind factory to be developed on Teesside. This is a huge investment in renewable energy, and the Teesside monopile factory is set to be the largest in the world

The facility will produce monopiles up to 120m long, 15.5m in diameter and each weighing 3000tons. It is expected to produce circa 150 monopiles per annum.

The 1.1m sq ft factory will be the largest of its kind in the world. The manufacturing facility will be an 800m long steel structure measuring over 40m high, with an additional 40,000sq ft of office accommodation, workshops, sub-stations, plus road infrastructure and associated hinterland.

K2CM’s role in the SeAH Wind project

K2CM, being engaged at an early stage to support design, development, and cost modelling, was instrumental in supporting the accelerated 2yr build programme to meet the demands of the client.

K2CM has been able to rapidly contract architectural, logistical, and engineering partners to mobilise activity on site enabling cost-led design to fully maximise the Client’s expectations.
